Microvascular obstruction persistence after early-reperfused myocardium infarction by CMR: analysis of first week and six months after STEMI
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction Detection of microvascular obstruction (MO) with gadolinium first-pass perfusion (FP) and late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) MRI predicts outcomes of STEMI patients. Previous data indicate the presence of MO early after MI correlates to worse prognosis and left ventricular (LV) remodeling. Nonetheless, FP and early hypoenhancement on LGE may persist after reperfused STEMI for a variable period of time.

Prognostic Value and Determinants of a Hypointense Infarct Core in T2- Weighted Cardiac Magnetic Resonance in Acute Reperfused ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction Eitel et al: Prognostic Value of Hypointense Infarct Cores
Background A hypointense core of infarcted myocardium in T2-weighted cardiovascular MR (CMR) has been used as a noninvasive marker for intramyocardial hemorrhage. However, the clinical significance of such findings not yet been established. Aim of this study was to evaluate determinants and prognostic impact of a hypointense infarct core in T2weighted CMR images, studied in patients after acute...
متن کاملWhich cardiac magnetic resonance parameters predict outcome in acutely reperfused non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction?
Background Clinical outcome after acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) has been shown to be predictable by myocardial salvage index (MSI) and microvascular obstruction as determined by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR). In the setting of non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) prognostic significance is less well investigated. Due to comparable incidence of major adve...
متن کاملMyocardial Salvage is Reduced in Primary PCI-Treated STEMI Patients with Microvascular Obstruction, Demonstrated by Early and Late CMR
OBJECTIVES This study evaluates the association between microvascular obstruction and myocardial salvage, determined by cardiac magnetic resonance performed both in the acute stage of myocardial infarction and after 4 months. METHODS In patients with acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction treated by primary percutaneous coronary intervention, myocardial salvage, infarct size, left ventricul...
متن کاملAntecedent hypertension and myocardial injury in patients with reperfused ST-elevation myocardial infarction
BACKGROUND Antecedent hypertension is associated with poor outcome in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Whether differences in myocardial salvage, infarct size and microvascular injury contribute to the adverse outcome is unknown. We investigated the association between antecedent hypertension and cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) parameters of myocardial salvage a...
متن کاملSex differences in myocardial salvage and clinical outcome in patients with acute reperfused ST-elevation myocardial infarction: advances in cardiovascular imaging.
BACKGROUND There is conflicting evidence regarding sex-based differences in myocardial salvage and clinical outcome in patients after ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The aim of this study was to investigate whether there are sex-associated differences in infarct characteristics (myocardial salvage, infarct size, microvascular obstruction) and clinical outcome in STEMI patients who a...
